HEROIN KINGPIN STRIKES: Ericka Simmons Sentenced to 108 Months in Prison
A 28-year-old woman from Hammond, Indiana has been sentenced to 108 months in prison for her role in a massive heroin trafficking operation in Northern Indiana.
Ericka Simmons was found guilty by a jury on February 5, 2016, at the end of a five-day jury trial. Judge Jon E. DeGuilio presided over the sentencing hearing, which was held in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana.
According to documents filed in the case, Simmons conspired with others, including Antwon Willis, to distribute over 100 grams of heroin in the Northern District of Indiana and elsewhere. The scheme lasted from 2009 up to and including October 2014.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank E. Schaffer, who commended the work of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Michigan City and Portage, Indiana Police Departments for their assistance in the investigation.
