Everett Simpson, Federal Kidnapping, Vermont 2024

Everett Simpson, a 41-year-old man from St. Albans, Vermont, is behind bars and facing federal charges for his alleged involvement in a kidnapping case over the weekend. Federal authorities announced on Monday that Simpson was charged with a violation of the federal kidnapping statute, 18 U.S.C. §1201(a)(1), which carries a penalty of up to life in prison.

According to an unsealed complaint filed in the Federal District Court for the District of Vermont, Simpson allegedly kidnapped a woman and her young child from New Hampshire and transferred them to Vermont. Thankfully, the victims were subsequently released.

Simpson was arrested in Pennsylvania on Sunday, May 19, 2024. An arrest warrant was issued in connection with the federal charges. The government will now seek to have Simpson transferred to Vermont in custody.

The contents of the complaint are allegations only, and Simpson is presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, the severity of the charges suggests that the authorities have a strong case against him. Simpson also faces charges in Delaware County, Pennsylvania and Windsor County, Vermont.
