Anthony B. Felder, False Statement to Obtain Money, New York 2015

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK – Former Fort Drum employee, Anthony B. Felder (44) of Redwood, New York, lied his way to a hefty profit, but now faces the consequences of his deceit.

Felder was sentenced to 2 years of probation and a $5,000 fine by the Honorable David E. Peebles on April 2, 2015. He was also ordered to pay $35,500 in restitution to the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

In November 2014, Felder pled guilty to knowingly making a false statement regarding outside positions he held while employed by the Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Drum in Jefferson County, New York.

Felder subsequently resigned his position as a project manager with the Army Corps of Engineers after it was discovered that he had lied about his ownership interest in East Coast Mitigation, a proprietary engineering company he incorporated in January 2009.

East Coast Mitigation began performing environmental subcontract work at Fort Drum, and Felder failed to disclose his ownership interest in the company when he submitted a certification form in which he was required to report all positions he held outside the U.S. Government.

As a result of his deception, Felder earned a personal profit of $35,500 from the subcontract work performed by East Coast Mitigation before his false statement was discovered.

The case was investigated by the Major Procurement Fraud Unit, Army CID, the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, Office of Inspector General, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and it was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael F. Perry.
