Fairbanks Gun Thief Darel Puller Indicted

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The grimy streets of Fairbanks are witnessing a chilling case of firearms heist. Darel Puller, 25, has been hit with serious charges for swiping 22 guns from a local firearm store.

Court documents reveal that on March 10, 2024, Puller struck fear into the hearts of law-abiding citizens by making off with 21 firearms from the store’s inventory. One firearm, however, belonged to the store’s owner and was not part of the business stock.

The defendant’s initial court appearance is set for an unspecified date before a U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska. A conviction could see Puller spending up to a decade behind bars, with a federal district court judge ultimately deciding his sentence based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.

U.S. Attorney S. Lane Tucker of the District of Alaska and Chief Ron Dupee of the Fairbanks Police Department were swift in making the charges public. The investigation into this brazen act is being led by the Fairbanks Police Department, with the ATF Anchorage Field Office and Seattle Field Division lending their expertise.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mac Caille Petursson and Carly Vosacek are tasked with prosecuting Puller. As always, an indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by those who would prey on the public trust, specifically through the unlawful possession of firearms.
