A San Antonio used car dealership manager has been held accountable for his role in a scheme to deceive customers about the mileage of vehicles sold at his lot.
Felipe Alcibar, 62, the primary party responsible for the day-to-day operations of Autotex Financial, was sentenced in a federal court to six months in prison and ordered to pay more than $260,000 in restitution for odometer tampering.
According to court documents, Alcibar knowingly and intentionally disconnected, reset or altered the odometers on multiple vehicles that had been purchased by Autotex and that were advertised for sale to the general public. This crime occurred no later than October 2020 and continuing until at least November 2023.
Alcibar was charged in a one-count information filed on October 8, 2024. He pleaded guilty on October 30, 2024.
In addition to a six month prison sentence, Alcibar was ordered to pay a restitution of $264,747.05.
The case was investigated by the Department of Transportation Office of Odometer Fraud, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Chung prosecuted the case.
Acting U.S. Attorney Margaret Leachman for the Western District of Texas made the announcement.
