A Harrison County man is facing up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm.
Aric J. Stutler, 38, of Mount Clare, West Virginia, entered a guilty plea in federal court in Clarksburg to one count of “Felon in Possession of a Firearm,” United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced.
The discovery of Stutler’s firearm possession dates back to May 2015 in Harrison County, West Virginia. At the time, he was found in possession of a .22 caliber pistol.
Stutler’s guilty plea comes after a previous felony conviction in federal court in Ohio for the offense of “Armed Bank Robbery” in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
Assistant U.S. Attorney David Perri prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducting the investigation.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided over the case.
Stutler’s sentencing will be based on the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which consider the seriousness of the offense and his prior criminal history.
As a result of his guilty plea, Stutler faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
