Assistant U.S. Attorney Katherine Schuh prosecuted the case.
The investigation was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime in local communities. The PSN program brings together law enforcement agencies and community members to develop effective strategies to reduce violence and make neighborhoods safer.
The sentence was handed down on Thursday. Valencia’s conviction and sentence serve as a reminder of the serious consequences of violating firearm laws, especially for those with prior felony convictions.
