Detroit Man Sentenced to 46 Months for Oxycodone Distribution

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – In a major blow to the opioid trade, Tyrone Wyatt-Smith, 29, also known as Fetty, was sentenced to 46 months of incarceration for distributing Oxycodone in Monongalia County. Acting United States Attorney Randolph J. Bernard announced the sentencing, which brings a measure of justice to the community.

Wyatt-Smith pleaded guilty in March 2021 to one count of "Distribution of Oxycodone." His guilty plea acknowledged that he sold Oxycodone in April 2019. The evidence against him was substantial, and it’s clear that he played a significant role in fueling the opioid epidemic in our region.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. Her tireless efforts ensured that Wyatt-Smith was held accountable for his actions. The Mon Metro Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, conducted the investigation. Their dedicated work helped bring this case to a successful conclusion.

U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the sentencing hearing. His decision to impose a 46-month sentence sends a strong message that distributing Oxycodone will not be tolerated in our community.
