Fidel Ramos-Ramos, Illegal Reentry, Iowa 2025

Fidel Ramos-Ramos, a 38-year-old Guatemalan citizen residing in Waterloo, Iowa, received a 98-day prison sentence for illegally reentering the United States after being deported three times.

On June 13, 2025, Ramos-Ramos pleaded guilty to one count of illegal reentry into the United States after having been deported. He admitted to previously being deported in 2012, 2014, and 2017.

Ramos-Ramos was previously convicted in the District of Arizona of illegally entering the United States, served 30 days in prison, and was deported. In January 2024, he reentered the United States in Texas illegally.

Ramos-Ramos was arrested on April 18, 2025, on a state arrest warrant and found at the Black Hawk County Jail. He was previously deported three times from the United States.

The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.

Fidel Ramos-Ramos was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams. He must also serve a one-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony Morfitt and investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations.
