Fla Man Samuel Aaron Leonard Charged with Child Porn & Enticement of Minor

TACOMA – The grim halls of justice were once again witness to a harrowing tale as 39-year-old Samuel Aaron Leonard, from New Port Ritchey, Florida, was charged federally with production of child pornography and enticement of a minor. This disturbing revelation came from U.S. Attorney Brian T. Moran, who announced the arrest on July 2, 2020.

Leonard’s sinister scheme unfolded across state lines, targeting a 14-year-old girl in Washington. For months, he had been grooming her online, claiming to be 20 years old. His cunning use of social media platforms led him to send her a cell phone, which contained covert surveillance software that allowed him to monitor every aspect of her life.

According to the criminal complaint, Leonard’s sickening advances turned sexual in nature, leading the girl to send explicit photos. The girl’s guardians, upon discovering the communication, alerted the authorities. A Kalama Police Department investigation revealed Leonard’s proximity to the girl and his intent to continue his despicable acts.

Policing the pervert, Leonard was observed sneaking a new phone over the fence to the girl’s backyard. His capture followed swiftly after. A search of his hotel room turned up more chilling discoveries: firearms, knives, restraints, and paraphernalia that spoke to his violent desires and preparedness for his next attack.

Production of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years with a maximum of 30, while enticement of a minor has a mandatory minimum of 10 years and the possibility of life imprisonment. Leonard stands accused, and until proven otherwise in court, he is presumed innocent.

The case against Leonard is the result of a collaborative effort by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Vancouver Police Department, and Kalama Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Angelica Williams leads the prosecution with support from the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
