A Florida man has been indicted on a gun charge after a federal investigation.
Andre L. Jenkins, 36, of Florida, has been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, a crime that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
According to the indictment, Jenkins, also known as Bear or Little Bear, was previously convicted of felony charges in 1998 and 2010 in the state of South Dakota.
The indictment alleges that Jenkins possessed a Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol between September 4 and September 6, 2014. The indictment also contains a forfeiture allegation involving the firearm and a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition.
The investigation was conducted by the North Tonawanda Police Department, under the direction of Chief William Hall, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Acting Special Agent in Charge James S. Higgins, New York Field Office, and the Niagara County District Attorney’s Office, under the direction of Michael Violante.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph M. Tripi is handling the case.
