Fort Collins Man Pleads Guilty to Child Sex Abuse & Possession of CSAM

Fort Collins’ Wesley Chambers has pleaded guilty in federal court to heinous acts of child sexual exploitation and the possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

The 34-year-old stands accused of sexually abusing a minor over an extended period, with law enforcement discovering more than 200 explicit videos and photographs of the victim on his cell phone.

Further investigation revealed that Chambers had amassed over 20,000 photographs and 2,500 videos depicting the sexual abuse and exploitation of other minors. His actions were not confined to traditional media; the defendant also accessed child pornography on the dark web, including “hurtcore” sites.

In a plea agreement, Chambers admitted to his crimes, with charges against him including two counts of sexually exploiting a child and one count of possessing material depicting the sexual exploitation of minors. Sentencing is set for October 22, where he faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum sentence of 70 years.

Acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew R. Galeotti of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney Peter McNeilly for the District of Colorado, FBI Assistant Director Jose A. Perez, and Special Agent in Charge Mark Michalek made the announcement. The investigation was carried out by the FBI’s Child Exploitation Operational Unit and the FBI Denver Field Office.

Trialing Attorney Rachel L. Rothberg from the Justice Department’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS) and Assistant U.S. Attorney Alecia L. Riewerts are prosecuting this case, which is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
