South Florida is no stranger to brazen crime, but this one’s particularly cold. Four men – Jordan Denzel Lewis, Tyrell Brion Bouie, Anthony Christopher Diggs Jr., and Johntaevious Henry Johnson – are facing federal charges after allegedly preying on individuals selling Apple products online. Forget a simple scam; these guys allegedly rolled up on victims with firearms, turning online transactions into armed robberies.
The indictment, unsealed this week, details a scheme running from June to October 2022. Lewis, 23, of Palm Beach, is facing the most severe charges, including illegal possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. Bouie, 21, also of Palm Beach, and Diggs Jr., 20, also of Palm Beach, are charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery itself. Johnson, 23, from Broward County, joins Lewis with charges related to firearm use during the alleged crimes.
The feds say the crew specifically targeted listings on a popular online marketplace – think Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, but they aren’t naming the platform. They weren’t after cars or furniture. It was iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks that drew their attention, and their method was simple: arrange a meetup, then rob the seller at gunpoint. The indictment alleges a coordinated conspiracy, meaning these weren’t isolated incidents, but a planned operation.
FBI Miami, alongside the Plantation Police Department, built the case. While the exact number of victims hasn’t been released, sources tell Grimy Times the investigation uncovered a pattern of several successful robberies. The charges include not only the robberies themselves, but also conspiracy to commit those robberies, and the illegal brandishing and use of firearms – adding serious years to potential sentences if they’re convicted.
Lewis’s prior felony conviction complicates matters considerably. Possessing a firearm as a convicted felon carries a hefty mandatory minimum sentence. Federal prosecutors are also signaling their intent to seek asset forfeiture, meaning anything acquired through the alleged criminal enterprise – cash, vehicles, even the firearms themselves – could be seized. This isn’t just about punishment; it’s about stripping these guys of any financial gain from their crimes.
The case is a stark reminder of the dangers lurking behind online marketplaces. While convenient, these platforms can be hunting grounds for predators. The feds are urging anyone who believes they were targeted by this crew, or has information related to the case, to come forward. This investigation is ongoing, and more charges could be filed. Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report any developments.
