On February 13, 1906, a sense of injustice hung heavy over the courts of Spokane as Judge Polndexter was left with no choice but to dismiss the case against Archie McDonald, a fugitive who had skipped bail of $750. McDonald’s partner had already been found guilty, but the elusive fugitive himself failed to respond to the court’s summons, leading to a bench warrant being issued for his arrest. Attorney John Salisbury’s motion for dismissal due to lack of prosecution within 60 days sealed McDonald’s fate, and the county missed out on a windfall of $750.
