California Man Charged with Marijuana Cultivation
A federal grand jury has indicted Gabriel Sanchez-Madris, 41, and Mark Espinoza, 26, for manufacturing marijuana and conspiring to do the same in the Lassen National Forest in Tehama County.
According to authorities, the two men were arrested on August 1, 2017 following a search of a marijuana-cultivation site containing approximately 2,640 marijuana plants in the Cub Creek area.
The case is a result of an investigation by the United States Forest Service, the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Sanchez-Madris and Espinoza face a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum penalty of life in prison and a $10 million fine if convicted.
The charges against the duo are merely allegations, and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
Sanchez-Madris and Espinoza are currently facing a significant amount of time behind bars if convicted of their crimes.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working to bring those responsible to justice.
