A former resident of McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine after pleading guilty to violating federal firearm laws.
Gamale Vaughn, age 45, pleaded guilty to one count of violating federal firearm laws in federal court before United States District Judge William S. Stickman.
In June 2019, officers with the McKees Rocks Police Department executed a search warrant on Vaughn’s residence, recovering a Springfield Armory .45 caliber handgun that was previously reported stolen.
Vaughn admitted to owning the firearm after waiving his rights. As a convicted felon, he is prohibited under federal law from possessing firearms.
Vaughn was previously convicted of a felony drug trafficking offense in Allegheny County.
The law provides for a total sentence of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. The actual sentence imposed will be based on the seriousness of the offense and any prior criminal history the defendant may have.
Pending sentencing, Vaughn remains on bond.
The McKees Rocks Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Vaughn.
