Garrick Richard Shendo-Herrera, Assault with Intent to Commit Another Felony, New Mexico 2023

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – A Mescalero man has been found guilty of a violent crime. Garrick Richard Shendo-Herrera, 36, of Mescalero, and an enrolled member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, was charged with assault with intent to commit another felony.

According to court documents, Shendo-Herrera admitted that on May 16, 2023, he assaulted Jane Doe in a car parked in the driveway of his residence.

The crime occurred in Mescalero, New Mexico.

At sentencing, Shendo-Herrera faces 10 years in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release. The Las Cruces Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau Investigation investigated this case with assistance from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Assistant U.S. Attorney R. Eliot Neal is prosecuting the case.

Garrick Richard Shendo-Herrera will remain in custody pending sentencing, which has not been scheduled.
