Glenn Allen English Sentenced for $210K Social Security Fraud

A Clearfield County man has been locked up for running a seven-year scam on the Social Security system, ripping off $210,802.30 in benefits he never should’ve collected. Glenn Allen English, 58, of Morrisdale, Pa., was sentenced to six months in federal prison followed by six months of home detention with electronic monitoring, plus three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to conversion of government funds.

U.S. District Judge Kim R. Gibson handed down the sentence in federal court in Johnstown, Pa., concluding a case led by Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song. English’s fraud stretched from January 1, 2008, to October 31, 2015, during which he knowingly cashed 210 separate Social Security Administration payments that were not rightfully his.

Court records show English continued to collect benefits despite being ineligible—funneling federal dollars meant for disabled and retired Americans straight into his own pockets. The amount stolen—$210,802.30—wasn’t pocket change. It was a cold, calculated theft from a system already under strain.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie L. Haines prosecuted the case, building a paper trail that exposed English’s long-running scheme. Federal prosecutors didn’t mince words: this was not a paperwork error. It was fraud. Plain and simple.

The Social Security Administration’s Office of Inspector General led the investigation, tracking down evidence that sealed English’s fate. Their work, praised by Acting U.S. Attorney Song, underscored the federal crackdown on those who exploit public trust for personal gain.

This case sends a message: defrauding Social Security isn’t a victimless crime. It drains resources from the vulnerable. And now, Glenn Allen English will spend hard time behind bars—and under electronic watch—paying for his betrayal of the system.
