Glenn Lee Thomas, 27, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is facing federal charges for helping cover up the 2014 execution-style murder of federal witness Tina Crawford. A superseding indictment handed down by a federal grand jury accuses Thomas of playing a critical role in the aftermath of the killing—transporting the getaway vehicle used in the hit from Pennsylvania to Virginia to evade law enforcement.
The charges stem from the August 22, 2014, homicide orchestrated by Price Montgomery and an unidentified accomplice. Crawford, whose cooperation with federal authorities made her a target, was killed in a calculated act of retaliation. Thomas allegedly stepped in after the shooting, knowingly facilitating the escape and concealment of those responsible by removing physical evidence linking the crime to the perpetrators.
Thomas is charged with two counts of being an accessory after the fact, a federal offense that carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The superseding indictment does not charge Thomas with direct involvement in the murder, but his actions after the fact are viewed by prosecutors as essential to obstructing justice and shielding the killers.
Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song confirmed the indictment, underscoring the seriousness of interfering with federal investigations, particularly when a protected witness is targeted. “Anyone who helps conceal evidence or aids fugitives in violent crimes against cooperating witnesses will be pursued and prosecuted to the fullest extent,” Song stated.
The case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorneys Gregory J. Nescott and Shaun E. Sweeney. The investigation was a multi-agency effort involving the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, Office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General, and the Pittsburgh Police. Their combined work reactivated cold case leads that ultimately pointed to Thomas’s involvement years later.
Thomas has been taken into federal custody and remains detained pending trial. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the severity of the underlying crime and any prior criminal history will heavily influence the final sentence if convicted. For now, the Department of Justice stresses that a superseding indictment is an accusation—Glenn Lee Thomas is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
