Grandview Drug Kingpin Pleads Guilty to $900K Conspiracy

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In a stunning admission of guilt, Anthony D. Harris, the alleged mastermind behind a $900,000 drug-trafficking conspiracy, pleaded guilty today in federal court.

The Grandview native, aged 41, confessed to distributing at least 18 kilograms of cocaine between 2019 and 2022, a staggering amount that highlights the scope of his criminal enterprise.

Harris’s operation was sophisticated, involving dozens of trips from Texas to Kansas City. He used multiple flights to Houston to secure cocaine, which he then distributed locally with the help of co-conspirators. His drug trade was financed through two bank accounts, where he deposited over $443,920, much of it in cash.

But Harris’s greed extended beyond drugs; he also used his ill-gotten gains to fuel a gambling habit, racking up substantial bets at casinos in the Kansas City area and Las Vegas. Records show he cashed in nearly $705,244 over three years.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Harris faces up to 40 years without parole under federal statutes, with a mandatory minimum sentence of five years. The court has yet to determine his final sentence after completing a presentence investigation.

This case is one of several high-profile drug trafficking operations targeted by the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF). It underscores the department’s commitment to dismantling organized crime networks across the nation.
