A Lancaster County, Pennsylvania man was sentenced to over 15 years in prison for engaging in illicit sexual conduct with minors in the Republic of Kenya.
Gregory Dow, 61, was sentenced to 188 months in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, and ordered to pay $16,000 in restitution for his crimes.
The investigation revealed that Dow, who maintained ties to the United States, traveled to Kenya in 2008 to start an orphanage, the Dow Family Children’s Home, where he sexually abused four minor girls between October 2013 and September 2017.
The FBI’s Philadelphia Field Office conducted the investigation with assistance from Kenyan authorities and local law enforcement in Lancaster County.
Acting Assistant Attorney General Nicholas L. McQuaid, Acting U.S. Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams, and Special Agent in Charge Michael Driscoll made the announcement.
The case was prosecuted by Trial Attorneys Lauren S. Kupersmith and Lauren E. Britsch of the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy M. Stengel.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
