Rochester business owner Gregory J. Coco, 44, has pleaded guilty to filing a false tax return in a case that could land him up to three years in prison and a $250,000 fine, according to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.
Coco, the owner of Century Asphalt Maintenance, a driveway sealing company in Rochester, received payments from customers totaling $2,611,685.57 for services provided from 2017 through 2022.
However, Coco intentionally failed to advise his tax return preparer of all the income he received, underreporting his income by a total of $1,704,556.57.
As a result, Coco failed to pay the Internal Revenue Service a total of $456,683.00.
The plea is the result of an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigations Division, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Harry Chavis.
The case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas M. Testani.
Coco is scheduled to be sentenced on October 7, 2025, before U.S. District Judge Meredith A. Vacca.
The investigation uncovered a pattern of deliberate tax evasion by Coco, who sought to avoid paying his fair share of taxes.
This case serves as a reminder that tax evasion will be vigorously prosecuted, and those who engage in such behavior will face serious consequences.
