A Sallisaw man has been sentenced to 13 months in prison for stealing firearms from a federal licensed dealer. Gregory McIntyre, 19, was handed down the sentence by the Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The charges against McIntyre stem from an investigation by the Sallisaw Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. According to the indictment, McIntyre stole firearms from Gems Gun & Pawn, a federal licensed firearms dealer, on or about August 29, 2015.
The indictment alleged that McIntyre knowingly stole firearms that had been shipped and transported in interstate commerce either before or after being stolen. McIntyre was charged with violating Title 18, United States Code, Sections 924(m) and 2, which pertains to stealing firearms from a federal licensed dealer.
Assistant United States Attorney Timothy Hammer represented the United States in the case. McIntyre will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending transportation to the designated federal facility at which he will serve his nonparoleable sentence.
