A Mexican national, Enrique Guevara-Camargo, 51, has been charged with an immigration violation in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs. Guevara-Camargo was named in an indictment returned by a federal grand jury this week in the Eastern District of Texas charging him with illegal reentry by a previously deported alien.
The indictment alleges that on July 2, 2025, Guevara-Camargo was found in the Eastern District of Texas after having been previously deported. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN). The initiative aims to combat the growing issue of illegal immigration and related crimes, and Guevara-Camargo’s case is just one example of the many individuals being targeted by the operation.
If convicted, Guevara-Camargo faces up to 2 years in federal prison and deportation. The case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and Immigration & Customs Enforcement, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Jackson.
