October 31, 1930, was a night to remember for the residents of Collingswood, New Jersey, but for 13-year-old William Campbell, it was a night he’ll never forget. Campbell was hospitalized after being shot in the right knee by a stray bullet, courtesy of a Halloween prank that turned deadly. The perpetrator, 40-year-old Mrs. Joseph Harris, was arrested and charged with the crime. Witnesses claim that Harris, who was reportedly celebrating the holiday with her family, fired the shot to disperse a group of rowdy youngsters who were causing a ruckus in the neighborhood. The incident has left many in the community shaken, and authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
