Harvey Man Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Charges

Christopher Orgeron, 33, of Harvey, Louisiana, stood before a federal judge yesterday and admitted to receiving child pornography—a crime that exposed a digital dungeon of depravity hidden in plain sight. The guilty plea marks the end of a federal investigation that uncovered over 26,000 images and 612 videos depicting the sexual exploitation of minors on Orgeron’s personal computers.

According to court records, Orgeron knowingly received and possessed child pornography beginning at an unknown date, continuing through June 25, 2015—the day federal agents stormed his Harvey home with a search warrant. Agents from U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), executed the raid and seized electronic devices that revealed the staggering volume of illicit material tied to Orgeron.

Forensic analysis confirmed the presence of thousands of files showing the brutal sexual abuse of children, some of whom appeared to be prepubescent. The material was stored across multiple drives, meticulously organized—indicative, investigators say, of deliberate and ongoing criminal behavior. Orgeron did not create the files, but his possession and access to them placed him squarely within a nationwide network of predators.

Under federal law, Orgeron now faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of twenty years behind bars. He also risks a lifetime of supervised release and a $250,000 fine. U.S. District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon scheduled sentencing for March 16, 2017, giving prosecutors time to compile victim impact statements and sentencing recommendations.

This case was prosecuted under Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to dismantle networks of child sexual exploitation. Spearheaded by U.S. Attorneys and the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, the program combines federal, state, and local efforts to track down offenders and rescue victims. Orgeron’s arrest is the latest win in a relentless campaign against digital predators hiding behind screens.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite commended HSI for their relentless work on the case, calling the seizure of evidence ‘a critical step in holding predators accountable.’ The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba, who serves as both Fraud Section Chief and Project Safe Childhood Coordinator. As the sentencing date nears, federal authorities warn that even passive possession of child pornography fuels demand and perpetuates abuse—making every conviction a strike against the epidemic.
