Hernandez-Gomez was accused of involvement in a violent crime that shook the community. According to court documents, the defendant was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance (cocaine) and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. If convicted, Hernandez-Gomez could have faced up to 30 years in prison and a hefty fine.
