CINCINNATI — Holt Parker, 59, of Cincinnati, is headed to federal prison after being sentenced to 48 months for possession of child pornography, a case marked by his desperate attempt to destroy evidence as FBI agents closed in.
U.S. District Judge Timothy S. Black handed down the sentence yesterday, which also includes 15 years of supervised release and a $40,000 fine. Parker admitted to downloading nearly 1,000 video files, most containing child pornography, and deliberately damaging a thumb drive when he realized law enforcement was raiding his Clifton neighborhood home.
The FBI executed a search warrant on March 15, 2016, seizing a laptop and the damaged thumb drive. Parker told agents he destroyed the device because it held hundreds of illegal images and videos he had recently downloaded. Forensic experts recovered the data, confirming the presence of graphic child abuse material — including an image of an infant.
Parker pleaded guilty in October to one count of possession of child pornography, ending a federal investigation that exposed the depth of his criminal activity. Federal prosecutors emphasized that each image represents real children enduring horrific abuse.
“Child pornography is not a victimless crime,” said Benjamin C. Glassman, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio. “These are real children being abused and possessing such explicit material will have real consequences in the court of law.”
Glassman credited the FBI’s Cincinnati Field Division, led by Special Agent in Charge Angela L. Byers, for their relentless work on the case. Assistant United States Attorney Kyle Healey prosecuted the case, underscoring the federal commitment to holding offenders like Parker accountable.
