BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In a shocking case of election fraud, a Mexican national was arrested and appeared in federal court this week after he was charged with violating Alabama law by voting in multiple elections as a non-citizen.
Homero Ramos, 51, a lawful permanent resident who lives in Marion County, was charged with violating Alabama law by voting in the 2022 and 2024 general elections.
A complaint filed in U.S. District Court alleges that despite knowing he was not a U.S. citizen, Ramos registered to vote and cast his ballots – a serious offense that carries a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison.
Homeland Security Investigations investigated the case with assistance from the Alabama Secretary of State’s Office.
Assistant United States Attorney Brett A. Janich is prosecuting the case, which has sparked widespread concern over the integrity of Alabama’s election process.
A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Ramos currently faces charges for violating Alabama law by voting in multiple elections as a non-citizen. The case is ongoing, and a verdict has not yet been reached.
