BANK ROBBERY ROCKS OSAGE CITY COMMUNITY: A brazen bank robbery left residents shaken, but justice is finally served.
Hunter Lee Prewitt, 28, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, pleaded guilty to robbing the Landmark National Bank at 106 South 6th Street in Osage City, Kansas. The 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck Prewitt used to escape the scene was later identified by investigators using video surveillance photos and information from a crime intelligence analyst with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
According to evidence presented in court, Prewitt handed a teller a note demanding ‘all one hundreds, fifties, and twenties’ before fleeing the scene in his white pickup truck. The FBI, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Osage County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Heart of America Computer Forensics Laboratory all contributed to the investigation.
Investigators tracked Prewitt’s movements, including a stop at a gas station in Osage City before the robbery and a visit to a pawn shop in Lyndon, Kansas. The Missouri Highway Patrol used the information to identify the pickup truck registered to Prewitt, leading to his arrest outside Springfield, Missouri.
U.S. Attorney Tom Beall commended the involved agencies for their hard work in solving the case. Prewitt’s sentencing is set for December 18, and he faces up to 20 years in a federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
The guilty plea brings a sense of relief to the Osage City community, who were left shaken by the brazen robbery. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of community collaboration and law enforcement working together to bring justice to those who have committed crimes.
As the case comes to a close, the community can rest easier knowing that Prewitt will face the consequences of his actions. The case is a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies and their commitment to keeping our communities safe.
