Huntington Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Fentanyl Distribution

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – A shocking display of greed and disregard for human life was on full display today as Tyson Davis Sr., 45, of Huntington, pleaded guilty to distribution of fentanyl.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on June 14, 2023, Davis sold approximately 2.93 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant while in a parked vehicle in Huntington. Davis admitted to the transaction, leaving no doubt about his guilt.

The brazen act of Davis will now be met with the full force of the law. Davis is scheduled to be sentenced on September 3, 2024, and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $1 million fine.

This guilty plea marks a major victory in the ongoing fight against the opioid epidemic that has ravaged our nation. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Cabell County Sheriff’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) all played key roles in this investigation.

United States Attorney Will Thompson made the announcement and commended the investigative work of the agencies involved. ‘This case is a prime example of the devastating consequences of fentanyl distribution,’ Thompson said. ‘We will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.’

United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers presided over the hearing. Assistant United States Attorney Lesley C. Shamblin is prosecuting the case, ensuring that justice is served. This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of community vigilance and the need for continued cooperation between law enforcement agencies.
