HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Darrelle Davon Boynton, street name “D,” 40, is looking at serious time after admitting to peddling methamphetamine and other deadly drugs in the streets of Huntington. Boynton pleaded guilty today to distribution of methamphetamine, a charge stemming from a brazen deal in a parking lot last April.
According to court documents, Boynton willingly sold approximately 56 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant on April 23, 2025. The transaction wasn’t a one-off; Boynton confessed to pre-arranging the deal, a clear indication of ongoing criminal activity. But the meth wasn’t all he was slinging.
The feds dug deeper and uncovered more dirty dealings. Boynton admitted to selling another 57 grams of methamphetamine on April 29, 2025, again to a CI. And if that wasn’t enough, he pushed approximately 8.32 grams of heroin and fentanyl on May 8, 2025 – a deadly combination that’s been ravaging communities nationwide. Each sale took place right here in Huntington.
What makes this case even more damning? Boynton was already on supervised release. In August 2020, he’d pleaded guilty to distribution of heroin and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in federal court. Apparently, a previous brush with the law wasn’t enough to keep him on the straight and narrow.
Boynton is scheduled to be sentenced on January 12, 2026, before United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers. He’s facing a maximum penalty of 20 years behind bars, a minimum of three years of supervised release after that, and a hefty fine of up to $1 million. This isn’t just about locking up a dealer; it’s about stemming the tide of poison flooding our streets.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced the guilty plea, praising the relentless work of the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force and the Huntington Police Department. This case is part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge (SOS), a federal initiative aimed at disrupting the supply of these killer drugs.
