BUFFALO, N.Y. – In a shocking turn of events, Ian Tarbell, a 46-year-old resident of Hogansburg, NY, was sentenced to 15 months in prison for possession of contraband cigarettes.

According to sources, Tarbell was arrested on February 18, 2016 in Pembroke, NY, following a traffic stop by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. The defendant was driving a truck that was pulling a trailer loaded with untaxed and unstamped cigarettes.

The investigation revealed that Tarbell was transporting more than 900,000 unstamped and untaxed cigarettes, with a total tax liability of over $300,000.
