Tulsa Man Pleads Guilty to Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
A chilling display of violence has shaken the community in Oklahoma as Jack Charles Welty, 50, pleaded guilty to assaulting a store clerk with a knife in a terrifying ordeal.
According to the plea agreement, Welty will serve 38 months in federal prison for the crime pending approval from a federal judge at the time of sentencing. The charges stem from a July 3, 2022, incident at a Family Dollar Store located on Utica Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

When the store clerk took a break outside, Welty demanded the clerk give him a cigarette, attempted to cut the victim’s face with a knife and then chased the victim in the parking lot with the knife, threatening him.
The FBI and Tulsa Police Department conducted the investigation, working tirelessly to bring Welty to justice. Assistant U.S. Attorney William Rubens is prosecuting the case.
