Tampa, Florida – In a shocking turn of events, a husband and wife duo has pleaded guilty to armed robbery in Hillsborough County, Florida. Jacorian Rashawn Brown, 24, and Jessica Duenas Nicholas, 45, both of Brandon, have admitted to their roles in a string of armed robberies that took place in the Tampa area during the summer of 2016.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Brown and Nicholas robbed the Murphy USA gas station in Wimauma of more than $10,000 on July 9, 2016. The couple attempted to rob the same gas station on July 19, 2016, but were unsuccessful. They returned to the Wimauma gas station on July 23, 2016, in an attempt to rob it again, but were arrested before the robbery could take place. Investigators recovered two semi-automatic pistols and nearly 100 rounds of ammunition from inside their vehicle.

Assistant United States Attorney Carlton C. Gammons is prosecuting the case. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.

Brown faces a maximum penalty of life in federal prison, while Nicholas faces up to 20 years’ imprisonment. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

The brazen crimes have left the community shaken, and law enforcement officials are breathing a sigh of relief that the perpetrators have been brought to justice.
