A Pittsburgh resident has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of aiding and assisting in the preparation and presentation of false and fraudulent income tax returns.
Jamar White, 31, was named as the sole defendant in the 31-count indictment, which states that he willfully aided and assisted seven different taxpayers in the preparation of 31 IRS Forms 1040.
The indictment alleges that the false tax returns were prepared between 2010 and 2014, and contained fraudulent Schedule A deductions for items such as medical and dental expenses, charitable contributions, various unreimbursed business expenses and tax preparation fees.
At each of the 31 counts, defendant Jamar White faces a maximum penalty of three years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and one year of supervised release.
The Federal Sentencing Guidelines will determine the actual sentence imposed, based on the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history of the defendant.
The Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
An indictment is an accusation, and Jamar White is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
