James Blasts Trump’s Title X Funding Cut for Reproductive Care

New York – A fiery rebuke from Attorney General Letitia James landed on the desks of federal bureaucrats as she minced no words in denouncing the Trump administration’s move to axe Title X funding for reproductive health care providers. “Cutting funding for health care providers that offer reproductive care to millions is cruel and shameful,” James sternly declared.

Targeting low-income, rural, and minority communities, this decision threatens the lifeline of vital services such as cancer screenings and affordable birth control. ‘Reproductive health care is a right,’ James emphasized, ‘and every individual should be able to access it without obstacles.’

The Title X program, established in 1970, has been the backbone of family planning and sexual and reproductive health care for the economically disadvantaged across America. Its abrupt suspension by President Trump’s administration on Tuesday has sparked widespread alarm.

Attorney General James has taken a stand against such attacks, most recently winning a lawsuit against anti-abortion group Red Rose Rescue for clinic invasions and interference with patient care in March 2025. Her relentless advocacy includes amicus briefs supporting Medicaid recipients’ right to choose their health care providers, maintaining access to emergency abortion care, and securing access to mifepristone.

In May 2024, James sued an anti-abortion group for promoting unproven abortion reversal treatments, and in April of the same year, she led a coalition urging Congress to expand reproductive health services. Her efforts are part of a broader campaign aimed at protecting access to reproductive health care for all Americans.

‘We will not stand by while women’s rights are stripped away,’ James concluded, vowing to continue her fight against this shortsighted and dangerous policy shift.”
