I will not allow this administration to threaten New Yorkers’ health care and reproductive freedom with its political games.” The AG’s office paints a stark picture: 89,000 New Yorkers enrolled in Medicaid received care at Planned Parenthood clinics in 2023 alone.

The provision would have forced states into an impossible position – either cut off funding to Planned Parenthood, effectively shutting down clinics and abandoning patients, or foot the bill themselves, forfeiting millions in federal dollars. Attorneys General from California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia joined the fight, alongside Pennsylvania. This isn’t just a New York issue; it’s a national battle against politically motivated attacks on healthcare access.

HHS is now legally obligated to continue providing Medicaid funds and reimbursing claims from Planned Parenthood clinics targeted by the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” provision.
