Grimy Times

ST. LOUIS, MO – In a shocking turn of events, James Isaac “Ike” Crabtree, the former Municipal Prosecuting Attorney for Jefferson County, Missouri, has been indicted on federal charges related to a 2021 incident.

According to the indictment, Crabtree subjected a female defendant, identified as “Victim One,” to sexual contact while acting under color of law in his position as Municipal Prosecuting Attorney. The alleged incident occurred on March 8, 2021, in his courthouse office after regular business hours.

The indictment further alleges that Crabtree lied to the FBI when questioned about the incident on March 3, 2022. He allegedly denied any wrongdoing, stating that he did not kiss Victim One, touch her body, or have her remove any clothing.

Crabtree resigned his position in March 2022 as a result of the federal criminal investigation. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Assistant United States Attorney Hal Goldsmith is handling the prosecution.

The indictment is a serious accusation, and Crabtree is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The charges against him are as follows:

1. Deprivation of Rights under Color of Law

2. False Statements to the Federal Bureau of Investigation

The case will now proceed to trial, where a judge and jury will determine Crabtree’s guilt or innocence. If convicted, Crabtree could face significant prison time and a fine.

Crabtree’s indictment is a stark reminder of the importance of upholding the law and protecting the rights of all individuals, especially those who are vulnerable and trusting of those in positions of power.
