James Jeffrey Schroeder, Child Pornography, Virginia 2016

Arlington man James Jeffrey Schroeder, 50, was sentenced to 100 months in prison for receiving and downloading child pornography.

Schroeder, a former teacher’s assistant in Texas, was also sentenced to 20 years of supervised release and ordered to pay $182,000 in restitution to victims.

The ex-assistant pleaded guilty on October 28, 2016, for crimes committed from approximately 1997 to 2015, during which he received and downloaded child pornography from the internet and from a family member.

A forensic review of Schroeder’s electronic media revealed more than 13,000 images and 400 videos of child pornography, including numerous sadistic or masochistic images and videos.

U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Dana J. Boente and Clark E. Settles, Special Agent in Charge of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Washington, announced Schroeder’s sentencing after U.S. District Judge T. S. Ellis, III.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Whitney Dougherty Russell prosecuted the case. Schroeder’s sentence was handed down on October 28, 2016, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
