Jamestown Meth Dealer Faces 48-Month Sentence

Buffalo, N.Y. — In a grim turn of events for the gritty streets of Jamestown, NY, Raymond Medina, 19, has been sentenced to serve 48 months in prison following his conviction on methamphetamine possession with intent to distribute charges.

The United States Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced the sentence imposed by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo. Medina’s downfall began on the evening of February 28, 2024, when Jamestown Police were called to a domestic incident involving a resident protected by an order of protection against him.

Upon arrival, officers encountered an argumentative Medina, who tried to flee. During this attempted escape, Medina was seen reaching towards his waistband, sparking concerns that he had something to hide. After a brief struggle and deployment of the taser, which failed to subdue him, Medina took flight on foot. The officer swiftly set up a perimeter, using snow-covered footprints and K-9 units to track him down. Medina was eventually found behind a shed, attempting to conceal himself from law enforcement.

During the pursuit, officers recovered suspected methamphetamine packaged for individual sale, further solidifying the charges against Medina. The investigation was spearheaded by the Jamestown Police Department, led by Chief Timothy Jackson, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, directed by Special Agent-in-Charge Frank A. Tarentino III of the New York Field Division.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Donna M. Duncan, who prosecuted the case, emphasized that the sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who traffic in illegal substances within our communities.
