A Richmond man has been sentenced to three years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm in Richmond, Virginia.
Jamie Louis Cook, 39, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Roderick C. Young on [sentencing date].
Cook, who has previous felony convictions including for robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, was found to be in possession of a stolen 9mm handgun on October 3, 2023, at an apartment complex on Henrico Arms Place.
When an officer attempted to place Cook into custody for domestic assault, Cook attempted to flee from the officers and dropped the handgun on the ground.
Cook has a history of violent crimes and was previously convicted of robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Virginia Attorney General’s Office, and the Henrico County Police Department collaborated on the case.
Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Ellen Hubbard and Assistant U.S. Attorney Erik S. Siebert prosecuted the case.
