Syracuse Man Pleads Guilty to Murder, Faces Up to Life Imprisonment
Syracuse, New York – In a shocking turn of events, 22-year-old Jarrell Williams has pleaded guilty to a previously unsolved homicide in Syracuse, New York. According to a recent plea deal, Williams admitted to shooting a rival gang member on September 4, 2007, in the 1000 block of Cannon Street.
Additionally, Williams also admitted to killing Anthony Ford and wounding a female victim in the head by firing several shots from a handgun at them later that same evening. The Ford homicide was previously unsolved.
As part of his plea, Williams also admitted to possessing handguns on a regular basis during the relevant time period. He also admitted that members of the Bricktown Gang, which he was a part of, maintained a specific geographic territory within the City of Syracuse in which only gang members could sell crack cocaine, cocaine, and marijuana.
The Bricktown Gang was known to use violence to protect their territory and obtain drugs from suppliers in New York City and elsewhere. Members of the gang also used hand signs, wore blue-colored bandanas, and had tattoos to signify their gang membership.
The prosecution, led by Assistant U.S. Attorney John M. Katko, resulted from a long-term investigation conducted by the Syracuse Gang Violence Task Force, which is comprised of agents and detectives from the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (Syracuse Office), the Syracuse Police Department, the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department, the New York State Troopers, and the United States Marshals Service.
