Jarvis Wilson Sentenced for Meth Distribution and Felon Firearm Possession

New Orleans, Louisiana – In a gritty courtroom drama, Jarvis Wilson, 39, from Jackson, Mississippi, was sentenced to 188 months in federal prison on September 2, 2025. The sentence is the result of Wilson’s conviction for distributing over 500 grams of methamphetamine and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

United States District Judge Greg Gerard Guidry handed down the sentence after Wilson pleaded guilty to Counts Two and Four of the indictment against him. Count Two charged Wilson with violating Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and (b)(1)(A), for distributing the illegal substance. Count Four alleged a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(8), for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The judge ordered that Wilson serve concurrent sentences of 188 months for distribution of methamphetamine and 180 months for the firearm charge, along with five years of supervised release. Additionally, Wilson is required to pay a $200 mandatory special assessment fee.

According to court documents, on April 8, 2024, Wilson sold over 500 grams of methamphetamine to an individual he believed to be a legitimate buyer. During a subsequent search of his residence, authorities recovered ammunition and two firearms: a Ruger Model LCR .22 caliber revolver and a Smith & Wesson Model 1000 Super 12-gauge shotgun.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence. The program brings together law enforcement agencies and communities to create safer neighborhoods. On May 26, 2021, the Department of Justice launched a violent crime reduction strategy to strengthen PSN, focusing on fostering trust in communities, supporting prevention organizations, strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.

Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson commended the efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) in the case. Assistant United States Attorney Troy Bell prosecuted the case on behalf of the Violent Crime Unit.
