BOSTON, MA – In a shocking turn of events, a Leicester man was convicted of eight child exploitation charges. Jason Clark, 31, of Leicester, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Richard G. Stearns to five counts of sexual exploitation of a child, and one count each of distribution of child pornography, transportation of child pornography, and possession of child pornography.
The heinous crimes took place between October 2010 and October 2011. During this time, Clark used a six-year-old minor to produce child pornography, disseminated the vile content on the internet by trading it with other child pornography collectors and by posting it to websites, and possessed the disturbing material.
Clark’s actions are a stark reminder of the devastating impact of child exploitation. His crimes are a betrayal of the trust placed in him and a violation of the innocence of the child involved.
According to the plea agreement, Clark faces between 15 and 30 years in prison, to be followed by 10 years of supervised release and up to a $2 million fine. Sentencing is scheduled for August 30, 2013.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex J. Grant of Ortiz’s Springfield Branch Unit. The investigation was led by the Massachusetts State Police, with assistance from the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office.
The conviction of Jason Clark is a significant milestone in the fight against child exploitation. It serves as a warning to would-be offenders that they will be held accountable for their crimes.
We urge anyone with information about child exploitation to come forward and report it to the authorities. Together, we can create a safer and more just society for all.
