In a shocking turn of events, Jassiel Ramirez, a 25-year-old Revere man, was sentenced to five years in prison for distributing 40 grams or more of fentanyl in Massachusetts.
On February 26, 2020, Ramirez pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and one count of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of 40 grams or more of fentanyl.
Between September and October 2018, Ramirez engaged in four separate drug sales of fentanyl to a cooperating witness. Those sales totaled approximately 110 grams of fentanyl.
Acting United States Attorney Nathaniel R. Mendell and Brian D. Boyle, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, New England Division, made the announcement. Assistance was provided by the Salem Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Alathea E. Porter of Mendell’s Narcotics and Money Laundering Unit prosecuted the case.
According to the indictment, Ramirez was responsible for distributing fentanyl in the Greater Boston area. The distribution of fentanyl is a serious crime that poses a significant threat to public safety.
