Javier Santiz-Santiz, Illegal Reentry, Iowa 2024

Grimy Times has learned that a man, who illegally returned to the United States after being deported twice, has been sentenced to prison. Javier Santiz-Santiz, a 32-year-old Mexican citizen, was found to have illegally reentered the country without permission from the US government.

The crime occurred on multiple occasions. In January and February 2013, Santiz-Santiz was previously deported from the United States. However, he made his way back into the country, and on May 2, 2024, immigration officials discovered his presence. He was arrested at the Tama County Jail after being taken into custody for state charges.

Santiz-Santiz pleaded guilty to one count of illegal reentry into the United States after having been deported. The guilty plea was entered on June 12, 2014. In light of this, United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams sentenced Santiz-Santiz to 98 days’ imprisonment.

Additionally, Santiz-Santiz must serve a one-year term of supervised release after completing his prison sentence. In the federal system, there is no parole available.

Javier Santiz-Santiz is currently being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be turned over to immigration officials. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel C. Tvedt and investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations.
