Threats and Demands
A Bradenton man has been arrested and charged with extortion by interstate communication and interstate communication of a threat to injure. Jeffrey John Borho, 38, was taken into custody on July 19, 2024, and has been ordered detained pending trial.
According to court documents, Borho was fired from his employer on July 1, 2024. In the following days, he sent threatening phone calls and messages to his former employer, demanding increasing amounts of money, including $10,000, $20,000, and $100,000. The threats were accompanied by videos of Borho stating, ‘I’ll kill you easily’ and ‘I don’t sue people, I kill people. And I get away with it every f***ing time. Praise God, you’re on my time now.’
The demands and threats were made in an attempt to extort money from his former employer. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ross Roberts.
A complaint is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.
Borho’s current status is detained pending trial. If convicted, he faces serious consequences for his actions.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing workplace safety and the serious consequences of making threats and demands towards others.
