Boston Man Sentenced for Bank Robbery Spree
BOSTON, MA – Jeremy D. Woodley, 38, was sentenced to 100 months in prison for robbing three banks in Boston, Massachusetts in May 2016.
On three separate occasions, Woodley entered branches of Santander Bank and Commerce Bank, handing tellers notes indicating a robbery and that he was armed. The tellers gave Woodley a total of $2,521, consisting of $599, $927, and $1,995.
The first robbery occurred on May 5, 2016, at a branch of Santander Bank in Boston. A similar robbery occurred on May 17, 2016, at another branch of Santander Bank, and again on May 21, 2016, at a branch of Commerce Bank in Boston.
Following the third robbery, witnesses observed Woodley exit the bank and enter the rear passenger door of an awaiting motor vehicle. Law enforcement officers observed the vehicle and, after a brief chase, arrested Woodley. At the time of his arrest, Woodley was in possession of the cash stolen from Commerce Bank.
Woodley pleaded guilty to three counts of bank robbery in June 2017. U.S. District Court Judge Leo T. Sorokin sentenced Woodley to 100 months in prison and three years of supervised release.
Acting United States Attorney William D. Weinreb, Harold H. Shaw, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Field Division, and Boston Police Commissioner William Evans made the announcement.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth G. Shine of Weinreb’s Major Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.
