Jeremy Digby, a 41-year-old man from South Royalton, Vermont, has been sentenced to 19 months imprisonment for a firearms offense. This conviction comes after a lengthy investigation by law enforcement and a guilty plea in federal court.
The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont announced the sentence, which will be followed by three years of supervised release. Digby also agreed to forfeit the firearms recovered from his residence during the investigation.
According to court records, law enforcement received regular complaints about Digby’s drug use and gunshots coming from his residence before his arrest in October 2020. On October 2, 2020, a search warrant was executed at Digby’s residence, where law enforcement recovered evidence of drug use and 43 firearms, including a high-powered weapon.
On October 12, 2020, law enforcement returned to Digby’s residence to arrest him on the federal indictment, recovering two additional firearms. In a post-arrest statement, Digby told law enforcement that he had regularly used and sold methamphetamine for the past couple of years.
This case was prosecuted as part of the joint federal, state, and local Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program, which aims to reduce violent crime through evidence-based strategies. The program brings together a broad spectrum of stakeholders to identify and address pressing violent crime problems in the community.
The Southern Vermont Drug Task Force and ATF investigated the case, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Wendy L. Fuller prosecuted the matter on behalf of the government. Digby was represented by Assistant Federal Public Defender Steven Barth.
